Natural Safe Tea Tree Oil For Acne
Just finished submitting an article for publication about using Tea Tree Oil rather than the prescription drug, Accutane, for treating acne. I posted the article on our web site if you want to read it or paste this url to your browser: http://bit.ly/TeaTree4Acne .
This is a continuum ( that is a word isn’t it???) of how Tea Tree is actually used to treat acne.
What made us realize it’s benefits were the multiple Moms who came to our herb shop, Cameron Park Botanicals, with the problem of the cost and adverse reactions they were seeing in their kids as they tried to treat acne. Many of these Moms did not feel comfortable after looking at the potential short and long term use of the drug. At this time Tea Tree Oil was being widely used in topical antiseptics and it was thought acne was caused by bacteria so maybe it could help.
Many of these Moms were spending up to $350 per month on the prescriptions and were seeing bad reactions to the medicine both physically and emotionally and were going to change. We had seen several articles about Tea Tree for acne and sold the oil itself.
What amazed me was not the first time the oil was used but more importantly the Moms came back for couple of months following and continued to re-order the Tea Tree oil, however it was rare for any to have to use for greater than 3 months. We were later told the acne was no longer a problem and therefore no further treatment was necessary. Of course as always this is not intended as medical advice and make sure you visit your physician before beginning a treatment on a disease you suspect when in actuality it may not be what is assumed.
Here’s how we instructed them to use the oil.
First take a cotton ball and place a small amount of tea tree on it. Rub it on a sensitive area of the body, generally on the underside of the forearm and wait for couple hours to see if any type skin sensitivity.
Second was take a slightly damp wash cloth and sprinkle the tea tree oil on it and wipe over the face after having washed the face. Do not wipe over or into the eyes.
Do this about 3x weekly until the acne disappears.
We had excellent results for the kids and also it was great to see the child’s confidence return as their appearance improved.
Later there was a “study” done that said the bacteria responsible for acne were under the skin therefore this treatment would not work. That does not seem accurate due to the “colonization” aspects of all bacteria due to what is referred to as bacterial colonization.
You might want to look at this video we did on our medical site about how the non cancerous ultraviolet rays actually kill all forms of bacterial known to humans and can do so whether it directly hits them or not. This is due to colonization. As a teaser let me state very clearly that there is “no known bacteria, mold, virus or spore ever in our history that can withstand the lethal effects of ultraviolet-C range rays” which also translates into ultraviolet, unlike drugs, does not allow any mutation or creation of a “supergerm”.

Great article for a great product. Tea Tree Oil can literally be used for hundreds of purposes from home remedies to pet remedies to putting it in your paint to get rid of mold, fungus and odors.
Towards the end of the article it refers to a “study” that certain issues are beneath the skin, which would seem to indicate that topical application of Tea Tree Oil could not work, although the facts indicate that it does work.
Try this experiment. Blow up a balloon. Place a small amount of Tea Tree Oil on the tip of your finger and barely touch the balloon. That is topical. What happens next, however, is instantaneous absorbtion.
